Premium Low Water-Peak SM Fiber
Prysmian's Premium Low Water-Peak fiber meets or exceeds ITU-T
G.652.C and D. This standard accounts for the majority of fiber currently
being installed in the world. Prysmian's Premium Low Water-Peak fiber is
manufactured to the highest standards for coatings and glass geometry, ensuring consistent,
reliable peformance in both new and legacy networks.
ITU-T recommendation G.652.D states that "The sampled attenuation average at
wavelengths of 1383 ± 3 nm shall be less than or equal to the maximum value specified for the range
1310 nm to 1625 nm, after hydrogen ageing according to IEC 60793-2-50 regarding the B1.3 fibre
category". This requirement ensures that compliant fiber links can be used for the full
range of CWDM wavelengths, including those around the "water-peak" region. This significantly
expands the available bandwidth that is available for future upgrades.
